Ah, Freedom, it’s fucking brilliant. I mean rooting around in someone else’s crap in the sewers or bleeding out after a shitting pig has gored you in the vents – that ain’t life. Being out here, this is livin. We took the sky back!
Going freelance, that’s what its all about. Sure, we still report into the bunker but that directive says freelance. FREELANCE baby. Aint getting no pension, but I’ll be my own boss. Freelance – making your own way, thinking on your feet, finding new and interesting things to put bullets in, meeting folk you haven’t lived with all your fucking life and maybe not putting bullets in em.
Some folk seem to take to that, others I think still like having order in things. But out here, well shit me it’s chaos. Unordered, in your face, bullets flying chaos. Beautiful. Embrace it till you feel it in your bones.
The crims get it but they had plenty of practise not doing as they been told. They hang around at the back in a nice tight group. You look at them and know, aint no barking of orders out hear gonna work on them folk. Nah, but solid – keeping up the rear and ready to pitch in with all they have when needs rise. You shout shit at them, good luck to ya. Treat em like free folk, freelancers, now Soap and his lads I think will do you right.
Takes all sorts though. Like Leon, makes me shit with laughter and one damn mean as fuck grunt to have in a fight on your side. I’d give him medals, all of em, he needs more metal to deflect bullets that lad.
Hooker, “he was pointing a gun at me so I shot him in the face”. Man is fearless from what I’ve seen. Security? Fuck sake, what a waste.
Quinn? Figure he must be straight out of some super duper, alpha tactical paint by the numbers delta black hawk down death squad. Like a well oiled cog, surrounded by rusty cogs. If there’s anyone in the FEF who would try to tame the chaos out here it would be him. I’d wager he likes a cheeky salute in the mirror each morning. But you know, Recon, appreciate the job but us grunts just turn up and make our mess. I think it disappoints them.
So anyway, yeah we met with Raze, did his dirty work for him, got him killed, made him better and now were off to spend some quality time with the man and his tribe. He’s offered the bunker 10 of his fighters, to leave his clan and join ours. They come with knowledge of the area, better than information scribbled on a map I’d say and experience of livin outside of a box in the ground too.
The 41st and others will go stay at Raze’s gaff, see what we can see, let Lexi do her science, build up better relations and you know…holiday. We took the sky back and I intend to live under it a while.
