New Hive
I think that it would be a great idea to put what we know about the new type of hive infection. Feel free to add more to this. I will update this will any photos or useful comments.
I will be talking to Dahl to see if there are any photos in its data base.
1. Standard foot soldiers (no code name yet). Part of their face seems to be mechanical. They are slow moving with no real tactical sense. Guns and Knifes work.
2. Elite soldier (no offical name yet however Bronze Head seems like a good name). They have a bronze or cooper colour helmet/head. They are more dangerous and appear to have some tactical sense. The helmet is part of their head. Guns and Knifes work.
3. The Commander (no offical name yet however Silver Head seems like a good name). They are heavily armoured with a Silver helmet/head. They have an interesting large caliber weapons that fires as fast as a DMR. They are difficult to take down. Guns work. Knifes DO NOT WORK.
EXPLODES WHEN DEFEATED!!!!!
Speacial units.
4. Scavenger type (Mr Toad). They wear a long coat with a backpack and googles. Appears to skitter around the battle ground. They seems to have a large amount of salvage in their bag (military and engineering). Guns work, Knifes is unknown.
5. Healer unit (no code name yet). Long robes with a weird hand, appears to be mainly red with 2 syringe like attachments on the back of the hand. Was seen healing other units even after they were “finished off”. They can be taken down by guns however they will get back up until they are “finished off” (With a knife).
Hive territory
I came top side after the hive was dealt with. So I may be missing some information but does anyone know why we aren’t expanding into their territory?
Payne – Video of Surface Combat
Railgun Technology – General Tech Overwiew
Chief Scientist – Ivan Kirov
Lead Engineer – Vasili Komaroff
Railgun technology uses “Lorentz” force to “pull” solid munitions between 2 tracks. The tracks themselves must be made of a super-conductive poly-ceramic. This is the only way that they are able to transmit the required current, and maintain intergrity. The projectiles themselves are solid objects, without the requirement for propellant nanites are able to easily produce the “slugs” to the high level of required tolerance.

In order to generate the required current, you can either draw directly from a large, stable power source (non-mobile), or by the use of super capacitors. These allow a lower grade power unit without the capacity to handle intense short bursts of energy draw, to provide a steady stream of power to the weapon. The capacitors hold the energy until it is released along the rails to “pull” the projectiles.
The capacitors need to have either an incredibly sophisticated cooling system, or have a safety mechanism that will discharge the capacitors regularly to prevent over heating.
A sample design layout is below;

Operation 5, nothing to see here. politics man fucking politics.
Fort Leon, Shit I am still in Fort Leon, Every time I think I’m gonna wake up back in the Field. When I was home after my first Mission, it was worse. I’d wake up and there’d be nothing. I hardly said a word to my friends, until I said goodbye. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back onto the surface I’m here a week now, waiting for a mission, getting softer. Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Fortitude squats in the bush, he gets stronger. Each time I looked around the walls moved in a little tighter.
There were no orders, no bunker directives, I arrived after the comms dish had been fucked up by Fortitude bad asses and their tribal levy, the bomb collar squads.
Quinn and I addressed the soldiers, we had Pinner, Hawk, Hardon, Tower all seasoned guys and 3 new recruits, Fox Treaty and Park. Hotpot Snake and Dashwood, turned up day 2 and even Maverick came out of the barn on the 3rd Day. We Discussed the lack of orders and Quinn asked what ranks we all were and what we thought of Major Valton and wanted to know if anyone would stand as council member for the military, I thought about it, people looked at me and I thought hard, but said nothing…Its politics man fucking politics.
I got out into the field on a light escort mission Ivan wanted to scan some flowers in the dark, something to do with The witch, anyway there were some of the Fortitude guys hanging round and I saw them off with the team, more radio issues though Tower and I worked out he had been issued with the wrong frequencies, he had spent the evening talking to thin air.
The morning of Day 2 we moved out in force again to the rad zone supporting the science and engineering teams because they wanted to go, mission selection was easy, got a gas mask you are in, no gas mask and you can head off the fortitude column heading to the farmlands.
The new territory and the new recruits made for slow going and we were all getting familiar with each other and operating in full masks, we initially took heavy fire and the going was slow past the fortitude cordon.
Ivan scanned more flowers and collected another Rabbit, h e later gave this to Lexi and she stated she would not honour the customary 500 people price tag for this.
The engineers were keen to be on the mission as Gideon had been broadcasting from this area sure enough we were attacked by bad guys pinning us into the rad zone with near fatal radiation levels looking to increase.
I had stayed back as point man on the ridge and thus stopped them wiping us out with my solid resistance but outnumbered 6-1 I was soon injured and limped down the hill to be sorted out, charging back up I ran into a group of 5 of them and engaged at super close range, by ability to withstand fire for longer and to rapid fire my DMR saw me win this fight, the foe began shouting for medics, I did the only thing possible, leapt the bush and took my knife and then I began 1-2-3 another, tower rushed to my aid and we made sure they were not getting up. Soap shouted something about prisoners, but there were none alive.
We recovered a transmitter Inferno and Soap nearly wet themselves this was so important, however the radiation levels were increasing, and they decided the transmitter needed to be destroyed and with that they killed Gideon, for he was an AI program that lived in that box, unfortunately turns out he was a potential ally as he was working to original bunker protocols.
Oh well never mind, lets not talk about it.
Science then happened and I was on hand to ‘assist’ with recording I had all the correct gear:
The full recordings have been made available to the science teams as needed.
Later that day another team defeated a fortitude attempt to destroy farmland, good action from Payne and his team, honest soldiering with no complications.
Raize of the wolf clan and leader of the free peoples asked the FEF to solve a murder for him Pip and Vlad needed help, so Fox and I went to recon the area and follow tracks, we took Wayne and Vlad to look at a dead body and the new engineer marri came to provide tech thinking. (technically Fox wanted to be recon so I was there as thug really)
My gods investigation is a tricky business and this 7 person team was efficient and we all did the thinking and head scratching and we uncovered some terrible secrets about the death of the mournival member hacker and traced the culprit down, where he was identified and a confession taken, it was discussed in team scooby do that we need adopt a nothing to see here approach as the truth hurts and would kill people, so we tided up a crime for raize, I made contact with Parker a local trader and traded a load of good salvage from him. It looked like we were about to need it.
REVOLUTION CITIZENS, absolutely not a coup!
Sophie Jones ASCII reporter was breaking the news about mandate 24, a ‘forgotten’ order that made Council members resign after 18 months that the council members seemed to have forgotten. Quinn took the floor and announced he was going to support this news and then put himself forward together with Soap, Angel, Lexi and Elizabeth so all FEF groups were present and represented – with Quinn and Elizabeth representing independents, I asked for us to wait as we were badly under supplied and we should requisition more ammo and medical support, but no it had to be done exactly then, apparently no one thinks about Supply.
A number rushed to support this video myself and a few others decided not to support this openly and this allowed us to be semi neutral and facilitate other lines of communication to the bunker command centre. I was approached asking why I had not stood? politics man fucking politics.
The council responded with demands Quinn responded with abuse it seemed to work.
Day 3 the medical council member that was detained by fortitude the previous day was a sufficient target for us to try and snatch back, we conducted a number of operations against fortitude soldiers and camps all successfully, however starting the revolution the previous night saw us dither in the final assault as we had reports of attacks on fort leon, and a costly bloody uprising. Faced with go over to the defence or press on we pressed on.
The final assault was conducted over a too wide frontage, the mission was ultimately a failure with insufficient medical supplies and we stood over the dying body of the councillor forlornly waiting for our medic, all because we were unable to resupply medical patches the previous evening and no one had been able to afford auto stabs from angel, indeed Payne and I had at points lain bleeding for a considerable time due to lack of supplies, it was only the med refills that I had available that meant we were supplied at all for our mission. The fact the council member was not saved resulted in more nothing to see here I tell you Its politics man fucking politics.
On a positive note I did collect more salvage for the fund, we would need this if we were going it alone.
Following the mission a detention squad sent by Surface command made contact, I was tipped off they would not fight us though the volume of radio traffic made some of the detail go missing, and so we made contact with them and discussed the future, the rebellion, not a coup appeared successful, I believe there are to be elections soon….. politics man fucking politics.
The flower scanning paid off though and Ivan’s witch detector, apparently detected the shit out of her and then with extreme prejudice the other team terminated her command, well done Whitechapel.
ARMOUR UPGRADES?
I know decker is the man for making the guns work better, but after getting gunned down in a communications incident I need armour that will better stand up to the shots who can help and how much does it cost?
So you Want to Go Recon?

The thing about joining the military is the waiting… remember that queue you joined to sign up to the FEF and ‘see the world’? Well that’s the shortest wait you’ll have in military life. Wait for your go order, wait for your dinner, wait for your clearance to fire, and so on and so on.
If you can wait around, in any weather (yeah… ask the guys on Op4 on the weather) then you can be a soldier.
If you can keep your head while everyone around you suddenly gets in a mad fucking rush to storm up a hill after 1 minute despite asking you to carefully radio back the details of what they’re about to storm into, thus giving away your position and getting you shredded by rad-brambles as you execute an emergency relocation under fire, if you can coolly get on with the job with that level of fucktardery going on in the background…. Then, my friend, you can be recon.
On the flipside as well, if you can keep it together when you’re staring down your scopes at a Fortitude security post, 6 fighters with DMRs and one of those Power Armour types, then realise that your back up team has found a downed aircraft full of engineering salvage and isn’t coming your way before tomorrow…. Then, my friend, you can be recon.
That’s the thing with recon…. It’s you! Sure you’re part of a team, we all are… but you’ll be a far flung part of that team that many members of it won’t recognise. You’ll be the important voice at the end of the radio… the watcher beyond the horizon. It can be a lonely life. Hell we don’t even get the rack time in the bunker, or the outpost. We’re mostly living outside.
But that’s the joy…. You’re that far away from things that you have your own world. It’s your move, your decisions, where to go? Observe, communicate, move on… be a ghost. You’re so far away from the group that commanders couldn’t even find you with a drone scan, there’s no officer type breathing down your neck.
Sounds idyllic doesn’t it? Until you’re tagged 4 miles outside the recognised theatre of ops, and you’ve done your job so well that the neither the medics nor the long range scanners can find you. You’re going to need to be self-sufficient. Nobody is coming behind you with spare ammo, dry bedding, MED patches or coffee. You learn to stitch your wounds, tolerate the stomach convulsions from irradiated areas, know what to eat and what to burn. Some of those flowers and mushrooms will fuck you up… ask Lexi… she knows that stuff.
But watching the sunrise through the Lower Pennine fallout cloud, and getting back to those sweet sweet decontamination showers… man that’s a lifestyle.
Considering a career in Recon? Ask away…. I’m heading out to recon the Facility soon, if you’re coming, let Maverick know.
Big Damn Hero
I’m gonna tell you about Smiley, a big damn hero.
We’re out in the thick of it, assaulting a Fortitude base of some sort. Bullets flying around everywhere and I can’t feel my legs.
Nothin. Not painful which I guess was a blessin but its odd to just look at your feet like they must belong to someone else.
Over the radio I get Quinn tellin me him and Kaleb are in a shit storm. Surrounded by hostiles and about to die. I get some details, down the hill, near a building ahead of where I am. No fucking clue to be honest and no legs.
Then comes along this soldier. Smiling away with a medic box like she’s having the time of her life. Fuck yeah, this shit is what we live for. Glad to see someone else enjoying it. I think about turning the radio off as Quinn is ruinin my mojo and right now I still have no bloody legs.
Medi box done and me and Smiley get goin but shit me if half way down the path we don’t get another call.
Medic box needed back up the hill. Balls. Now we don’t know where Quinn and Kaleb are save for them being surrounded and if the back up is bleedin out then everyones fucked. So I send Smiley back. Go sort them fuckers out I tell her and then see if you can find me. Off she runs, smiling away.
I find the building and head around back. Shoot some folk up who don’t see me coming. Move around the side and find some dick who brought a pistol to an LMG fight. He rolls around on the floor like hes Luke Skywalker dodging Sand People armed with a club. He don’t last long.
His mate clips me but he’s soon pissing blood too and I make it up into the woods and start hosing down some arseholes who are further away. That’s when I see Kaleb and Quinn pop their heads up. Fucking get in. Together, alive and well. Don’t get me started on how that got fucked up.
Anyway all aint well. By now I’m getting focused and I get more than clipped. Right leg, artery. Fuck. I crawl up the hill, rest up on a tree and jam my fingers in the hole in my leg till I get a good pinch on the artery. That’ll keep me going for a bit.
Don’t see anyone around. Well fuck me. Fuck me.
Then I see her. Smiley. Big grin on her face running towards me. Hell yeah! Medic box at the ready. Beep beep…nowt. Its empty I tell her but she’s just pounding that button. Shes green, first time out and no ones fucking told her how it works. Empty I tell her again, needs someone to fill it up.
Someone shouts ‘power armour’. Monument I think.
I tell Smiley to give it legs and for a moment she turns.
Then she turns back.
‘I aint leaving you. No way’ shes yellin.
I’m trying to tell her I’ll be OK. I’m trained, I can hold this wound. But shes just pumping out shots and telling me she aint leaving and all I got is admiration. This is soldiering. This is beautiful. What a fucking hero.
Takes one in the shoulder. Shoots some more and I’m just loving the sound of that AR-12 and watching her. Symphony of carnage. Then another round opens her up and shes down.
Still smiling.
“We had a good run” she says.
I want to tell her to hold on, she’ll be OK and all that shit. But all I can think of is how much of a hero she is and how I don’t know this green recruits fucking name. She’s gonna die next to me and I don’t know her name. Just killed me inside. Having to watch her bleedin out, slumping down and I don’t know her name.
“It’s been great” shes gargling out through the blood in her throat.
I’m screaming out over the radio that there’s piles of bodies down here and we need someone down here now or we’re losing all of em. Doing a Quinn over the radio. Nothin. I keep tryin.
Hawk runs into view. I don’t know if hes gonna make it in time. He stops to heal up Wilf and I think about shouting out to heal folk on the front first but he’s half way through and I just sit back till he’s done, then shout him over.
Smiley lived.
Shes my type of soldier.
In my eyes a big damn fucking hero and I’ll not forget her name.
She’s called Private Anna Ford.
Get Your Boots Wet- AAR- Payne
Rain. They never really tell you how pissing wet it really is in boot. Sure we’ve all seen pipes leak, vents spray water or the anti-fire sprinklers kick in but the shear amount of fluid that came out of the sky beggars belief.
We advanced from our comfortable outpost on a new mission to secure a facility. It rained. A lot. I’m not looking forward to this ‘Snow’ in whatever form that takes. Our first objective was to set up a communications array for relaying to Bunker. This mostly involved us standing on guard whilst the engineers tried not to blow themselves up. I was tasked to stay on rear guard whilst the main body moved off to secure the facility. Once the communications array was established, we proceeded to join the main body at the facility. I report no hostile contacts and only one incident of taking fire, presumably from a trigger happy FNP.
On arrival at the facility, the engineers and scientists had mostly got all systems operational. After nourishment an investigation was performed into some form of dream ‘suicide’ machine which involved several simulation tests. My judgement of this system is it was written by the kind of scientists you see in all those old movies, you know…the type that are immediately torn apart by their creations and only their gristly remains left for some unwitting future keeno scientists to discover and unleash upon the earth. We did claim the facility in the name of Bunker Ascendant and name it ‘Fort Leon’. An extremely dangerous place making highly volatile fluid…it’s what he would have wanted. Still no grenades.
Day 1- The Fortening.
In the wake of the destruction of the hive it was time to negotiate with some of the surface dwellers for who got what bits of what. Our mission was to go and bring the leader of the clans back, a Raze. We encountered some hostiles who we later discovered to be from another Bunker- Fortitude. They engaged us supported by some local tribe who had 3 bolts joined in a triangle necklace and we gunned all those fucks down. We then met some ‘Religious’ folks who worshipped some gods. We also encountered some FEF who had looted some of the technology that they worship. Bit too much like politics for me so I swiftly detailed them to speak to a Bureaucrat. We found this Raze and took him back. Some more hostiles tried to assault the new position but some red hot nanites to the face sorted them out. Still no grenades.
I had patrol for several hours and some routine armoury maintenance. By the time I returned it was time for mission to take out a key tribal leader and it was starting to get dark. Once bunker had established our intel for the mission and confirmed target location we proceeded on mission, Quinn, Hawk, Tower, Chigwell, Fredrickson and myself. After skirting the first patrol Quinn and Tower split off to try to locate the target with the second squad forming up to cover once engaged. The target was considerably further away and second squad broke off their cover to move up to the first squad. After travelling through dense undergrowth and around several patrols their ritual and religious leader was located. This site was well lit and they performed some sacrifice. Once the target was confirmed all parties opened fire. The target was kill confirmed and all soldiers began their exfiltration back to the facility. Still no grenades.
Day 2- Up yours fortitude
2 missions today. One to secure some crazy scientist who escaped the lower facility levels (not my idea of fun) or go and smash up one of fortitude’s outposts, steal all their trousers and shit in their kettle.
We set out on line to assault their output and encountered multiple hostile patrols on route. I took the high ground with Avery, Hawk and Wayne and advanced in parallel with the main group. After flushing out some enemies from undergrowth we took up overwatch positions in support of the main advance. Once multiple hostiles were defeated Ascendant forces lined up for the final push on the outpost. All FEF forces rallied and pushed on this. Some person rocked up in a suit of augmented armour but was soon murderised by concentrated fire and neat work by the rail gunners. We got in, sacked the place and planted an explosive device which I am happy to report went off correctly.
Still no grenades.
