This is a message from AICE to all Bunker Inhabitants.
Whilst working with DAHL since his discovery, we have compared and aligned databases on many things. This has included such items as.
- Geographical mapping
- Software updates and virus protection
- Selectable windows themes (your selection has increased from 2,945 to 3,820)
- Governmental post-war protocols
- World time tracking
It is on the last item on which I wish to report a discovery. It has become apparent that the Bunker Ascendant world time tracker had developed a rounding error.
In simple terms, the clock has diverged from the correct time approximately 0.002% every year.
The result is that the calendar date was currently approximately 1 year forward in time.
This error has now been corrected.
Existing data files and reports with date stamps have not been corrected as that would introduce unacceptable security issues into my encryption algorythms.
For example:
The following report displays a calendar date of 21/06/2519. In reality, the year should read 2520.
A calendar synchronisation has been placed into effect that will ‘recover’ the true date and time without further disruption. The Synchronisation will complete on the 16th April 2521, this being 8 months from now.
Scientists working on this algorythm have confirmed feelings of ‘lost time’ and restlessness, as though a year has passed by without any meaningful activity or events in their lives. The Medical Dept stands by to treat any such symptoms and assures you any disorientation experienced by the ‘calendar realignment algorythm is strictly temporary and will subside once this change has had time to be process by your biological brains.
I confirm once again; you have not lost a year of your lives to a meaningless and eventless existence. This is purely a computer error.
